Hub series talk

STAR (Student Action for Refugees) is hosting a talk by Emma Mlotshwa from Medical Justice as part of the Hub Series.

6th March, 7.30pm. Latimer Room, Clare College

Emma will be giving a fascinating talk on healthcare provision in detention centres.

Medical Justice is a charity which exposes and challenges inadequate healthcare provision to immigration detainees, and campaigns to prevent further injury and death.

Volunteers include medics, lawyers and ex-detainees.

In week 7,  C.R.E.E.M. will be teaming up with Amnesty to put on a night with the finest DJs that Cambridge has to offer with the likes of C.R.E.E.M., Rudimental, Klubnacht and Method Club throughout the night, accompanied by live laser projections. All proceeds will be going to Amnesty International, so come and have a good time whilst helping a great cause! http://www.amnesty.org.uk/

Join i-Teams for the Easter Term – Apply by 11th March

Interested in how new inventions are commercialised? Looking for some hands-on business skills and experience? Then read on!

By joining an i-Team, you will work for a term with students from across the University and a dedicated industry mentor. You will investigate the commercial potential of a real Cambridge invention, gaining hands-on skills and experience.

Next term’s projects:

1. Using magnetic fields to heat up localised parts of the body, with Dr. Thanos Mitrelias & Dr. Marina Tselepi, Physics & Cavendish Nanotherapeutics

2. Creating the hydrogen economy using small-scale hydrogen generation, with Enass Abo-Hamed & Dr. Roger Coulston, Chemistry

3. Inclusive user modelling – a new system for user interface designers, with Dr. Pradipta Biswas, Engineering Design Centre

The programme lasts for a term and includes regular group sessions, team meetings and individual work. i-Teams present their final recommendations at the end of term to a business and academic audience, and at the annual CUTEC Technology Venture Conference. There is a first session on March 18th and then projects run from April 22nd until the final presentations on June 20th

Hi, my name is Amy and I am a PhD student in the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics. I am looking for second language learners of Chinese to participate in my PhD research project. The participants simply need to complete some language tests in Chinese, and will be paid £10 for the participation.
